My experience at University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) in the Environmental Outdoor Education program provided me with a comprehensive, interdisciplinary education that shaped my career in environmental education, sustainability, and community engagement.

The Environmental Outdoor Education curriculum at UMD was academically rigorous, with coursework covering a broad spectrum of environmental sciences, including ecology, conservation biology, environmental chemistry, earth sciences, geography, and resource management. Through advanced courses in biology, chemistry, and environmental systems, I developed deep scientific understanding and critical thinking skills essential for environmental literacy and effective problem-solving.

UMD's program emphasized experiential learning—integrating theoretical knowledge with hands-on activities, field studies, research projects, and practical application. Field-based courses took students into diverse ecosystems for direct environmental study.
